Rodney 2 Dolla Lofton

 IL

It is my great pleasure to nominate Mr. Rodney Lofton to the St. Louis Softball Hall of Fame. Mr. Lofton has played in over 2,000 softball game playing only the position of Shortstop (SS) from 1997 until present. I am delighted to nominate him because he is a family man, great friend, great father, a man of great character on and off the field as well as a man of great faith. One very important thing is that he is a First Responder and the Engineer of the Belleville, IL Fire Department with over 20 years of experience. He is a leader on and off the field and has been the team captain on every team he has been part of. He transformed how the position is played by making plays only the Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith could make. Mr. Lofton is also a member of the Mon-Clair League Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also nominated for the Grambling University Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 and currently awaiting final voting. He is passionate in his desire to help young baseball and softball players learn, and over the years, he has actively pursued innovative ways to help enhanced their skills and experience as a former coach of the Belleville West High School. When I think about my friend, Mr. Rodney Lofton, I think of him as a Servant Leader! I spent over 20 years playing alongside him on different teams. He is the epitome of the word teammate, and I would not want anyone in the lineup more than I would want him. He has batted in the number 2 spot on every team he has played on including teams who has picked him up for just a weekend. The leadership characteristics that are displayed by him on and off the field have made him the biggest impact on all players on teams he has been a part of. He is a great mentor and has inspired not only his three sons to play softball but so many sons of his family and friends who he greatly supports in all aspects of sports and life. Mr. Lofton is a role model in so many ways. He believes in playing the game of softball the right way as well as believing in the word teammate. He is one of the best if not the best softball player in the St. Louis area and he is by far one of the greatest baseball players to play for the East St. Louis Senior High School baseball team. He is an ambassador of the sport of softball and has the respect of many players, coaches, tournament directors' umpires, fans, and sponsors. It is with great pleasure that I nominate Mr. Rodney Lofton as a member of the St. Louis Softball Hall of Fame. He has received a numerous of awards such as: Tournament Most Valuable Player (Several Awards) Tournament Most Offensive Player Tournament Best Defensive Player All-Tournament Team (Several Awards) Championship Rings (9)
