Gary began his fast pitch career in 1975 and played for over 30 years. In 1986 Gary helped form the St Louis Engineers Fast Pitch Softball Club and served as player-manager for 1986-2004. In that 18-year span, the Engineers compiled a .675 winning percentage and won 14 league titles as well as 11 first or second place finishes in national tournaments. Gary is the 4th St Louis Engineer to be inducted into the St Louis Metro Softball Hall of Fame. Primarily an infielder, Gary was known for his versatility around the diamond and, at one time or another, practically played every position. A middle of the order hitter, Gary batted over .400 three times (1997, 1999 & 2004).
